The development of PVD coatings on titanium valve seats created a new challenge for cylinder head developers. The ultra hard PVD coated surface of the valve seat was demolishing the standard soft valve seat materials found in performance cylinder heads. Beryllium enhanced seats worked better, but nobody wants to deal with the dangers of working with Beryllium. Through research and development Trick found the substitution for Beryllium copper. We call it NBC ONE (non-Beryllium copper one) Nickle and silicone have replaced the Beryllium to create a hard wearing highly heat conductive copper alloy material.
